Leftover chapatis will always taste better when revamped. And one common way to improve their appearance and taste is to transform them to Chapati Rolex.

Most people prefer preparing the Chapati Rolex with some veggies and eggs. Others even go an extra mile of including additional fillings like beef strips, chicken, or even ground beef. For the majority, this is a perfect breakfast combo that goes well with tea or coffee on the side.

Luckily, you don’t need much to prepare this satisfying dish – leftover chapatis and a humble pan-fried egg can work wonders as well. This means that if you don’t have additional veggies at hand, you’re good to go.

Due to its simplicity and versatility, Chapati Rolex is one way I demonstrate my creativity in the kitchen. The effortless recipe is what you may need on a busy morning when you are short in time.

Ingredients:

  • 2 leftover chapatis (rotis)
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon oil or butter (for frying)

Total Time: 10 minutes

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Instructions

Step 1: Warm the Chapatis

If your chapatis are cold, you can warm them up on a skillet for a minute or so. This will make them more pliable and easier to work with.

Step 2: Prep the Eggs

Crack the eggs into a bowl. Add salt and pepper according to your taste preferences. Whisk the eggs until they are well combined.

Step 3: Fry the Eggs

First heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add oil or butter. Pour the whisked eggs into the skillet and let cook undisturbed for a minute or until the edges start to set.

Step 4: Assemble the Chapati Rolex

Now Place one chapati on top of the cooking eggs in the skillet. Use a spatula to gently fold the edges of the eggs over the chapati, covering it completely. Once the bottom side of the eggs is cooked and the chapati is heated through, carefully flip the whole thing over.

Allow the other side of the chapati to cook for another minute or until it’s heated through and the eggs are fully cooked. Finish by pressing down gently with the spatula to ensure everything sticks together.

Step 5: Serve

At this point, all you need to do is transfer the Chapati Rolex onto a plate. You can go ahead and cut it into slices or roll it up if you prefer. Serve hot with your favorite sauce or drink.

Cooking Tips

  • If you don’t have leftover chapatis, you can make them afresh. I prefer whole-purpose flour in this case.
  • You can customize your Chapati Rolex by adding fillings like shredded cheese, sliced vegetables, cooked meats, or even a sprinkle of herbs.
  • Be careful not to overcook the eggs, as they might become too dry.
  • Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preference.
  • This recipe is versatile, and you can experiment with different toppings and fillings to suit your taste.
