Beef samosas have been here for the longest time I can remember. But did you know that you can always make them in different ways? I’ve seen different individuals come up with unique beef samosa recipes that turned out to be delightful.

One reason I love beef samosas is because they are so versatile and can go well with a variety of accompaniments. Interestingly, I’ve always been shying off trying the recipes since I found them to be long and tiresome. However, this is just a perception and one way to justify it is by making the samosa myself. So I decided to give it a shot and I’ve never looked back.

So if you’re a beginner looking for the simplest samosa recipe possible, this is the right place for you. This guide will not only help you make the most delightful beef samosas but also ensure you enjoy every bite to the the last piece.

Instructions

Prepare the Filling

To prepare the filling do the following:

  1. Marinate your beef for 30 minutes (optional) and let simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add oil and fry for 3 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  4. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Cook for a couple of minutes until the raw aroma disappears. You can always skip this process if need be or add additional herbs and vegetables that you enjoy.
  5. Stir in all the spices – ground coriander, garam masala, chili and salt. Mix well.
  6. Cook the filling for a few more minutes until you achieve your desired level of doneness.
  7. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

2. Make the Pastry:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt/sugar. Gradually add melted butter/vegetable oil and mix until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Slowly add water, a little at a time, and knead until you get a smooth, firm dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes (optional)

3. Assemble the Samosas:

  1. Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball.
  2. Roll each ball into a small circle, then spread little oil and flour on top.
  3. Roll another ball and layer it on top of the first one. Repeat the process until you’re done.
  4. Now roll the layered pieces together into a larger circular piece.
  5. Cut it in desired shapes and peel the layers one by one.
  6. Take each piece and fold it into medium to large pocket, sealing the edges with a little water and flour paste.
  7. Fill the pockets with a spoonful of the beef filling, ensuring not to overfill.
  8. Seal the top of the pockets by folding the remaining edges tightly.

4. Fry the Samosas:

  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the filled pockets in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  3. Fry the samosas until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally.
  4. Once done, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

Serve the beef samosas hot or warm with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney. You can have them for breakfast with spicy tea or enjoy them anytime of the day as snack.
